In her Glass series, Tracy Ellyn creates original fine art glass pieces in the kiln, then layers them with the various layers she is known for such as paintings, drawings, water, photographs, and various lights, plays with placement until just the right image appears. She then photographs the multiple results and embeds into metal.

This process-oriented approach attracts curiosity about intangible phenomena in the history of our world: The four classical elements. Earth (sand from which the glass is made), Fire (the heat of the kiln), Air (lighting and drying in air), and Water (watercolor, dyes, paints, and pure water itself). The fifth element of Spirit is always there.

The artist utilizes processes from various centuries, connecting the dots between past, present and future.

Her glass pieces are considered to be a new medium in contemporary art and are used as such.

Please inquire for many additional pieces in this large series.
